SOLID WASTE MARKETS
When a major hazardous waste management company wanted to investigate the potential for entering the solid waste market in a Midwestern state, it asked EI Ltd., a strategic partner of SEA, to characterize the current solid waste market within the state, including waste volumes being disposed, ownership of existing landfills, likelihood of acquisition and potential for entering the market. Through direct examination of manifests, EI Ltd. gathered waste volume information. Permit status, ownership and capacity data was gathered through interviews with state permitting officials and direct examination of permits. Information on other factors such as political alliances and corporate relationships were gathered through extensive interviews with industry players.
